The Essence of the Chicken Coop Culture

The eagle trapped in a chicken coop is a very powerful metaphor. It speaks not of environment, but of identity being hidden. — People live on the earth, yet often forget who they truly are.

Anno Domini 2018 Israel Trip: Random Notes (Part 7)

Chinese people tend to be modest, like an empty valley receiving all things. When praised, they feel embarrassed and say polite, self-deprecating words. Americans react differently – when complimented, they all say in unison: "Thank you for your praise!" This actually comes from Christian culture. Because all of a person's good qualities, virtues, and good deeds come from God – they are merely expressed through an individual. If a person is too modest, it implies that all that goodness originates from themselves, which is actually another hidden form of pride that blasphemes God. When people praise us, they are praising the Jesus Christ within us.

Anno Domini 2018 Israel Trip: Random Notes (Part 6)

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) One of the things that struck me about the pastors accompanying us on this Israel trip was their joy, prayer, and thankfulness. These are things that are easy to read but extremely difficult to practice. I can manage seventy to eighty percent joy at best. Can I pray without ceasing, anytime and anywhere? And I absolutely cannot give thanks in all circumstances. This is a great lesson to learn!

Anno Domini 2018 Israel Trip: Random Notes (Part 5)

Among the group on the President's Shield Holy Land tour were apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists. Frank is both an apostle and a pastor. He has seen four people raised from the dead. Last night during his sermon, he laid hands on everyone and prayed, imparting the anointing of healing. Each person has a different gift, but in the vision they share the same mission: to work together with God in the last days, doing what pleases Him. Mily and Pastor Hannah, who are traveling with us, saw angels the day before yesterday and yesterday. The spiritual eyes of these people have almost all been opened, and they often hear God's voice. "Ears that hear and eyes that see—the LORD has made them both" (Proverbs 20:12).

Anno Domini 2018 Israel Trip: Random Notes (Part 4)

Today is the first day I've had a meal in Israel (I was too tired from walking during the day – fell asleep as soon as I got back to the hotel and didn't have time to eat). It turns out the dinner at the Dan Jerusalem Hotel is quite abundant. I had a small plate. I'm really not that interested in dinner (dinner can cause more than a dozen kinds of diseases; humans probably don't need dinner at all). Middle Eastern food is not greasy – pretty good.

Anno Domini 2018 Israel Trip: Random Notes (Part 3)

Among the pastors traveling on this Israel trip, the oldest was Pastor Deborah, aged eighty-one. She leads a 24-hour Davidic prayer tabernacle in New York and has spent many years ministering in Guizhou, China. The Lord has taken her to the third heaven many times. Hearing the Lord's voice and communicating with Him has become a habit for her. She said the Lord told her that this trip to Israel was significant and that she must come. This is her fourteenth time in Israel, and each time feels different. This eighty-one-year-old looks like she's in her sixties, has a good appetite, and walks lightly. She says it's all God's gift.

Anno Domini 2018 Israel Trip: Random Notes (Part 2)

On the second day after arriving in Israel, we transferred from the airport hotel to the Dan Jerusalem Hotel. The journey took about 45 minutes and cost $25 per person. The driver was an Orthodox Jewish believer. He was very warm to us and could speak Chinese – "I love you." He said he loves his country very much. He traveled to Los Angeles last year but has never been to China – he really wants to go. The hotel is quite nice, with high occupancy. You can see tourists from all over the world. On the lobby screen there was a blessing for China.

Anno Domini 2018 Israel Trip: Random Notes (Part 1: On the Plane)

God opened the way. Together with the “President’s Shield” group (part of us), we just arrived in Tel Aviv. We’ve reached the hotel (got WiFi now). Thank God for a smooth journey all the way. We flew United Airlines. As I stepped into the cabin, the only feeling in my spirit was peace and joy. The cabin was filled with mild-mannered Americans and some tall, solemn-looking Jewish rabbis. In my ears, God’s words echoed: “I have summoned you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1). “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” (Jeremiah 1:5).
